About Jeff McLain

I began my career as a freelance photo assistant in San Francisco almost 25 years ago.

Quickly, I doubled down on Photoshop and Capture One Pro as my main tools - and was there at the start of when Digital Technicians were ‘a thing’ on-set.

This was back when we used to bring an inkjet printer around and print the images to the crop and scotch-tape them to paper layouts! Soon we were building out catalogs and ads with InDesign. And Photoshop has always been imbedded as a critical tool in the whole process.

I’ve worked on-set in San Francisco, LA, Palm Springs, Hong Kong, Dallas, Orlando, Miami, Hawai’i, Mexico, and all over Montana. And now, in Minneapolis.

In addition to Digital Tech work, I spent a decade working in digital video, location sound mixing, and video editing with Premiere.

I moonlight a bit with a video camera - you can see some of that work over at www.arrowrootproductions.com

Outside of work, I play guitar, dobro, and some banjo - and I have lived in New Hampshire, San Francisco, and Montana previously.
